The Venice/Culver JACL is part of the larger National JACL, the oldest and largest of the Asian-American civil rights organizations in the United States. With over 10,000 members, the JACL provides a wide variety of networking opportunities throughout the country. We promote and preserve the cultural values, heritage and legacy of the Japanese American community by participating in events that fulfill our parent organization’s mission to protect civil rights and preserve the Japanese-American culture.
Meetings take place on the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30 pm in the VJCC Conference Room. The Venice Culver JACL offers leadership development (Frances Kitagawa Leadership – funded internship), opportunities to participate in National JACL programs (Washington DC Leadership Summit, National Youth Council, JACL Fellowships), scholarships awarded by the National organization and advocacy for the community (Venice Japanese American Memorial Marker, UCLA NSU Cultural Night, co-sponsored VJCC College Information Day).
